Jenison in the winter -how bad?

Median household income is $86,063, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Jenison sits at 183.2 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Let me know your thoughts. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I've lived in Highland for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good airport with direct flights
- The walkability scene is tough

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Bought a house here in 2021 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I'm a social worker and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely better than expected and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (The Heights) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.
