Moving to Jenison with kids -good idea?

Born and raised here. With a population of 17,334, Jenison is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 17,334 people. Rent is about $1,962/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $86,063 in Jenison. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What would you do? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in construction. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.
