What's it really like living in Jenison?

Anyone else feel this way? It's a a small town city with about 17,334 people. You can expect to pay around $1,962 for rent here. The median home value here is around $257,600, which seems about average. Median household income is $86,063, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $257,600 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Friendly people
- Diverse community
- Low taxes
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Limited nightlife
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Chain restaurants dominate
Let me know your thoughts. Any help is appreciated. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. I've lived in Sunset for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The healthcare scene is average

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the Riverside side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
