I'm a remote worker and It's a a small town city with about 1,569 people. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Anyone in a similar situation? Appreciate any input. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much stable but now it's pretty good.

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from San Diego about 1 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. No regrets on my end..
