Rent in Jenks getting crazy

Random thought, I'm a college student here and Rent is about $1,555/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Jenks sits at 111.3 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Denver about 5 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Nashville about 2 years ago. The main reasons were work and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.
