Thinking about relocating to Jensen Beach from Baltimore

Anyone else feel this way? With a population of 12,456, Jensen Beach is a small town. Average temperature is around 75--F, so it's warm year-round. Poverty rate is 11.3%, which is around average. The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. Let me know your thoughts. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 8 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Old Town for 3 years. Moved from Houston for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Can feel isolated. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The dating scene is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.
