Biggest downsides of living in Jermyn?

Random thought, Military spouse here. The median home value here is around $185,900, which is actually reasonable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Worth the trade-offs? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 15 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely underrated and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Fairview) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Charlotte about 11 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.
