Planning a move to Johnston -neighborhoods?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm originally from San Diego and Rent is about $1,288/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 1.2%, which is pretty low. With a population of 24,196, Johnston is a small town. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Any advice would be great. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to San Francisco it's underrated.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 1 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
