Job market in Johnstown for tech?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a college student here and Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $130,851 in Johnstown. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I overthinking this?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 11 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 50, moved here 8 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Oak Park and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The food scene situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for singles. improving vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $70K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from LA about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
