What surprised you most about Joliet?
Not sure if this has been asked before, but Born and raised here. The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $248,600 on average. Rent is about $1,237/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $248,600, which is actually reasonable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I wrong here? Appreciate any input. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.
