Hey folks, I'm a college student here and Homes are going for about $247,900 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Should I be concerned? The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much reasonable but now it's challenging.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
- The weather scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The walkability is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in South. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in retail. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
