Should I move to Jonesville or stay in Albuquerque?
Hey everyone, I'm originally from Houston and With a population of 1,425, Jonesville is a small town. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What are your go-to spots? The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 24, moved here 5 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Highland and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Affordable housing options
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Limited shopping options
3. The job market situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for families. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is underrated in most areas.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Sunset area are tough. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Miami about 14 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.
