Is Joplin a good place to live?

Hi all, Average temperature is around 57--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 11.7%, which is around average. Household incomes average around $51,154 in Joplin. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Close to nature
- Low taxes
- Lots of new development
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Limited dining options
- High property taxes
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Boring for young people
- Chain restaurants dominate
Is this normal for Joplin? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.
