I've lived in Sunset for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Diverse dining options
- The nightlife scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
