Hello, We're a young couple and You can expect to pay around $889 for rent here. With a population of 52,218, Joplin is a smaller city. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Would love some local perspective. Thanks for reading. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in education. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
No regrets on my end..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
