Just moved to Joplin, any tips?

Hey folks, I work in logistics and Median household income is $51,154, which feels on the lower side for the area. The suburbs are where most families end up. What are your go-to spots? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in marketing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Italian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much established but now it's challenging.
