Been meaning to ask this. We have two kids and Crime rate is something to consider -Jupiter Farms sits at 148.4 per 100K. Household incomes average around $140,213 in Jupiter Farms. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Worth the trade-offs? The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Riverside for 11 years. Moved from Raleigh for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
construction is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Road conditions need improvement. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in retail. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The dating scene scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Background: I'm a software engineer, 41, moved here 9 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Uptown and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The nightlife situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $40K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
