Anyone else love living in Kahului?

Hey folks, Born and raised here. It's a a smaller city city with about 27,068 people. With a population of 27,068, Kahului is a smaller city. Average temperature is around 77--F, so it's warm year-round. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Good schools
- Strong sense of community
- Plenty of shopping options
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Rising rent prices
- Far from major airports
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
Should I be concerned? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. I've lived in Old Town for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The safety scene is solid

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a project manager and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The cultural scene is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great seafood places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
