Career opportunities in Kailua CDP (Hawaii County), HI
Been meaning to ask this. Born and raised here. You can expect to pay around $1,747 for rent here. Homes are going for about $649,400 on average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. Thoughts? TIA! It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 5 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..
