How is the nightlife in Kailua CDP (Hawaii County)?

Random thought, Military spouse here. Rent is about $1,747/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $649,400, which is pretty steep. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Phoenix about 6 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
