Living in Kaiminani -the reality

Curious what people think. Been living here since 2022. The median home value here is around $761,300, which is pretty steep. Poverty rate is 7.4%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,338 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cheers. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from New York about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..
