Hey, With a population of 1,711, Kalida is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 1,711 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Kalida sits at 42.7 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely average and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Springfield) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 4 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..
