Anyone else feel this way? I'm a college student here and Median household income is $70,000, which feels about average for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Kaneohe Base sits at 232.1 per 100K. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Should I be concerned?

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much stable but now it's surprisingly good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in government. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Westside for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The nightlife scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in construction here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is challenging. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 10 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
