So, Poverty rate is 8.0%, which is pretty low. Should I be concerned? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Tampa about 2 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been here 3 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..
