We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Eastside area are solid. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great sushi places. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely solid and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Houston about 2 years ago. The main reasons were school and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..
