Housing market in Kansas City — is it worth buying?

Median home value here is around $147,100. Prices are reasonable compared to major metros. For those renting, typical rent is $1073. 

Is now a good time to buy in Kansas City? Or better to keep renting?

Looking for opinions from both homeowners and renters.

If you can afford it, Pine Grove is the best place to live. Period.

I'd add that the school system has been improving steadily. Otherwise spot on!
