Working remotely from Kansas City — my experience
I've been working remotely from Kansas City for 8 years now. Here's my take:
The pace of life here is perfect for remote work. No crazy commute stress, affordable living, and enough amenities to not feel isolated.
Cost of living: pretty reasonable
Internet: Fiber available in most areas — no complaints
Coworking spaces: A few good ones downtown
If you're looking for a place to WFH, Kansas City is underrated for remote workers.

Coming from New York, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are about the same.

I'd add that healthcare options are better than most cities this size. Otherwise spot on!

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Highland Park. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Coming from Miami, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are slightly more expensive but housing makes up for it.

Respectfully disagree about the cost of living assessment. In my experience, it really depends on your lifestyle.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Lakewood and Eastside are perfectly safe.

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.

I've lived in Downtown for 15 years and it's a hidden gem honestly.
