Life in Kansas City as a young professional

Been meaning to ask this. We're a young couple and With a population of 508K, Kansas City is a major city. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Thoughts? It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 13 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
