Life in Kaser as a young professional

We're a young couple and The median home value here is around $831,000, which is pretty steep. Poverty rate is 54.8%, which is higher than I expected. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Am I wrong here? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Came here for family and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The outdoor recreation is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Bought a house here in 2017 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The nightlife is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Riverside area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Phoenix about 12 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..
