I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Charlotte about 4 years ago. The main reasons were school and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is average.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in legal. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Old Town for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cultural scene scene is solid
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Nashville about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.
