Life in Kearns metro township as a young professional
Longtime lurker here, Been living here since 2018. It's a a smaller city city with about 37,058 people. The median home value here is around $334,400, which seems about average. The city has invested a lot in new development. Does this match your experience? It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Came here for work and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The safety is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The housing market is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 2 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in retail. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is tough in most areas.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Minneapolis about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is improving.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Downtown for 5 years. Moved from Charlotte for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
construction is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Homeless population growing downtown. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
