Hey, Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -Kearny sits at 130.7 per 100K. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $83,212 in Kearny. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Riverside side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.
