Anyone else feel this way? I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 14,437, Kemp Mill is a small town. You can expect to pay around $2,105 for rent here. Median household income is $160,750, which feels pretty solid for the area. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Is this normal for Kemp Mill? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Westside for 5 years. Moved from Atlanta for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Chain restaurants dominate. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great Asian places. it's not perfect but it works for me.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Meadowbrook. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Thai.
No regrets on my end..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Phoenix about 10 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Feel free to reach out with questions..
