Rent in Kemp Mill getting crazy

Random thought, I'm a 26-year-old chef and Rent is about $2,105/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $160,750 in Kemp Mill. The median home value here is around $567,300, which is pretty steep. Median household income is $160,750, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Denver about 11 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Mexican places. it's not perfect but it works for me.
