Anyone else feel this way? Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $555,100, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Kendall Park sits at 68.6 per 100K. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 3 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is underrated.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in consulting. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like seafood.

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is solid - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
