Moving to Kendall Park with kids -good idea?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Has anyone dealt with this?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in government. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much growing but now it's improving.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 2 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

I work in marketing here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is average. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
