OK so I relocated for work and The median home value here is around $377,800, which seems about average. Rent is about $1,755/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 76--F, so it's warm year-round. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I wrong here? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Oak Park. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in engineering. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 2 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
