Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

I work in manufacturing here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is better than expected. No regrets on my end..

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Phoenix about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
