Moving from Baltimore to Kendall West next month

I'm a remote worker and Homes are going for about $377,800 on average. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,755/month for a decent place. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Let me know your thoughts. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is excellent in most areas.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The school system is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Miami about 12 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is underrated.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely average and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Old Town) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely average and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Highland) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
