Housing market in Kennebunk right now

Hello, Just moved here 6 months ago and Homes are going for about $429,600 on average. Median household income is $93,167, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 6,008, Kennebunk is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 6,008 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Growing food scene
- Diverse community
- Good healthcare facilities
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Cold winters
- Boring for young people
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Limited cultural events
What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 11 years. Moved from Nashville for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Limited shopping options. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Atlanta it's solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 14 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

I've been in Oak Park for 12 years. Moved from Baltimore for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is improving - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Far from beaches/mountains. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 8 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
