Rent vs buy in Kennewick -what makes sense?

Been living here since 2010. Homes are going for about $343,600 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What would you do? TIA! Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Meadowbrook area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 24, moved here 4 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Can feel isolated
3. The housing market situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for retirees. average vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $90K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great Southern places. I have mixed feelings honestly.
