What I wish I knew before living in Kennewick

Hey, I work in energy and Crime rate is something to consider -Kennewick sits at 300.9 per 100K. Average temperature is around 57--F, so the weather is moderate. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks! Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely decent and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Sunset) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Minneapolis it's solid.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good airport with direct flights
- The healthcare scene is improving

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is weather. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..
