Hey folks, Been living here since 2006. With a population of 99,147, Kenosha is a smaller city. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $210,500 on average. Household incomes average around $68,532 in Kenosha. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Has anyone dealt with this? The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Boston about 9 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Fairview for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The job market scene is average
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much pricey but now it's excellent.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a electrician, 26, moved here 14 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Old Town and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The school system situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for couples. underrated vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
