Alright, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Median household income is $68,532, which feels about average for the area. Homes are going for about $210,500 on average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Has anyone dealt with this?

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much pricey but now it's underrated.

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to San Diego it's tough.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a writer, 31, moved here 2 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Greenfield and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The job market situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for remote workers. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The traffic is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Denver about 11 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is improving.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Maple Ridge. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Greenfield area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.
