Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from San Diego about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in government. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Southern.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely improving and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Riverside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 26, moved here 7 years ago from New York. I've lived in North and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited shopping options
3. The cultural scene situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for families. challenging vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Phoenix about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 1 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Denver about 5 years ago. The main reasons were family and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains
