Most overrated things about Kensington

First post here. I'm a 25-year-old HR manager and Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Charlotte about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The cultural scene is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.
