Been meaning to ask this. Born and raised here. Median household income is $73,647, which feels about average for the area. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Should I be concerned? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much stable but now it's better than expected.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 8 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
