I'm retired and Rent is about $1,205/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $73,647 in Kentwood. The median home value here is around $249,000, which is actually reasonable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Worth the trade-offs? The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from LA about 7 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Happy to answer more specific questions..
