Kentwood is underrated, change my mind

Random thought, I'm retired and Homes are going for about $249,000 on average. The median home value here is around $249,000, which is actually reasonable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Westside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..
