Alright, Been living here since 2022. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Let me know your thoughts. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 13 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2021 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
